SUMMER 2018 CONCERTS and NEWS

Dear Friends,

I hope you are having a wonderful summer full of music and friendship.  We are very excited about the upcoming Flower Piano Festival opening in the SF Botanical Gardens from July 6-16, where there will be free concerts for the next two weekends, and over 12 pianos are available for anyone to play the rest of the time.. I also want to announce the 2018 release of a Flower Piano Compilation Recording which I produced, featuring some of our fabulous pianists.  Download cards will be available at the festival and feature classical, jazz and original works performed by pianists Allison Lovejoy, Serene Han, Benjamin Gribble, Paulo Sultanum, Sandra Simich, Dean Mermell and others, as well as Mauro Ffortissimo, the organizers of the festival.

The Film 12 Pianos tells about the story of the beginnings of all of this. It is a magical story with incredible music not to be missed. Not only do I appear in this film playing by the Pacific Ocean to dolphins and in other scenes, but I also recorded soundtrack and was Music Director.  For downloads and more info:  http://sunsetpiano.com/film/

 Saturday, July 7 1 pm-2 pm:   FOUNTAIN   Duo Piano works with pianists Kymry Esainko and Elektra Schmidt.  Music by Poulenc, Milhaud, Lili Boulanger, Gustavino and Ravel.  2 pm-3 pm: Kymry and I will perform Saint-Saens’ “Carnival of the Animals” with members of the Classical Revolution and puppeteer Niki Uhlela.

Sunday, July 8   1 pm – 2 pm:  Zellerbach Garden Stage.  I will be performing solo works of Ravel and Chopin, as well as the Claude Bolling Flute Trio “Baroque and Blue” with Michael Laderman, flute and Dan Fabricant, bass.

JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2018:
I’ve been working with arranger Greg Stephens on the published book of my Cabaret Rock Opera THE 7 DEADLY PLEASURES and will be going to the ASCAP Musical Theater Workshops in LA in February to learn more about the art (and business) of the musical.
While I’m down there, I’ll be playing at the wonderfully magical EDWARDIAN BALL Los Angeles on Saturday, Feb 10

THURSDAY, FEB 1:
RALPHAPALOOZA: a tribute to our late great musician friend Ralph Carney.
The EAGLE SF, 8 – 12 pm.
I’ll be performing some originals, and this show will feature an all-star Bay Area lineup of musicians, including Robin Coomer and The Cottontails. I will be joined by Randy O’dell on drums and Greg Stephens on trombone.

Summer 2017: Flower Piano Returns

Hello Everyone! I am preparing collaborations with several wonderful musicians (and the amazing painter Peggy Gyulai) for the 3rd annual Flower Piano Festival in Golden Gate Park, starting July 13. Below is a link to the schedule, and also a detailed list of the concerts I will be presenting.

Don’t miss this incredibly magical event in the beautiful gardens with pianists in all areas of the arboretum. Concerts are both weekends of July 15/16 and July 22/23.
Pianos are available for guests to play at all other times!! bring picnics and sweaters, and enjoy pianists play classical, jazz, sambas, tangos, blues and more…..watch children dance, listen to poets with birds accompanying!

APRIL CONCERTS and PROJECTS

Hello friends,
It has been an exciting spring so far, times of change, rebirth, and moving forward, Finishing old projects, starting new ones… I just finished recording Arne Oldberg’s solo works for piano and am preparing the release of The 7 Deadly Pleasures cast album this June, as well as Premiering new songs and solo works for piano this season.

I will be accompanying this wonderful ensemble in a Faure composition. The program includes new choral works, and I will be performing my original Nocturne “Remembrance”, commissioned by Susan McGarry.

Sunset Piano- The Film

FINALLY! The amazing film by Dean Mermell featuring Mauro Ffortissimo and the many pianists who made this incredible movement into a film.. not to be missed.
I recorded tracks for this film, have a few appearances (one with dolphins, another with whales!!) and was Music Consultant! It is a remarkable film, and it was an honor to be a part of it!
